Development of Kirona Housing 3.0.25 is now complete and was released in August, 2024. Kirona Housing 3.0.25 contains a number of compatibility and support fixes for NEC customers who are upgrading beyond NEC version 22.1.
What is Kirona Housing
Kirona Housing was originally developed as a mobile working product for NEC Housing to support Deskless Workers. It was designed as an online only browser application that can be accessed from laptop, tablets and mobile devices in the field.
Kirona Job Manager was added following the original product release to provide an 'off-the shelf', offline-only, component to the solution. The Kirona Housing solution provides a direct interface between NEC Housing and OneAdvanced Job Manager, allowing for collected data to be displayed and updated via the Job Manager solution.
Kirona Housing Releases
Kirona Housing releases are created to solve for a number of different problems.
- Compatibility Patch - simply added on to any Kirona Housing release version to allow it to continue to work with a specific version of NEC Housing release frequent
- Full Kirona Housing Release - a full release where the code within Kirona Housing needs to be updated rare
- Configuration Change - a manual change to some Kirona Housing configuration rare
- Scripted Update - to deal with a one-off issue and can’t be tied to a Kirona Housing or NEC release version rare
NEC Housing Compatibility Patches
Throughout the lifecycle of NEC Housing, changes are made to the product which impact the stability and functionality of Kirona Housing, as well as the ability for Kirona Housing to effectively integrate with NEC Housing. OneAdvanced reviews these changes to provide Hotfixes and Releases to resolve these issues as they are discovered.

The update file also includes some PL/SQL for fixing SQL stored in database tables.
Fixes and Resolutions
Issue | Issue Description | Minimum Kirona Housing Release | Minimum NEC Version |
NEC Housing Permission and Security resolutions | From NEC 22.2 Oracle database access permissions for the Kirona Housing Schema have been restricted to improve product security. A fix has been created to restore the required privileges to the minimum required levels. | NEC 22.2
NEC Repairs Permission and Security resolutions | From NEC 22.2 Oracle database access permissions for the Kirona Repairs Schema have been restricted to improve product security. A fix has been created to restore the required privileges to the minimum required levels. | NEC 22.2
Password Encryption Type has changed with recent NEC Housing Release | A Kirona Housing configuration parameter needs changing to avoid use of a now deprecated and removed ‘Blowfish’ mechanism in NEC Housing. | Kirona Housing 3.0.10 | NEC 23.1 |
Notepad has column type changes which prevent data being read and inserted | A change has been made in NEC Housing to a column type on the Notepad table which causes issues within Kirona Housing. There are many places in the application where notepad text is being accessed or compared. To resolve this issue, a new view has been created within the Kirona Housing Schema. This view supplies just the first 4000 characters from the CLOB column. This view is now referenced in all of the SQL that previously dealt with the Notepads table. | NEC 24.1
Invalid Objects are found in the Kirona Schema following an NEC Upgrade | A change has been provided that attempts to update the database and recreate three packages that are often found invalid after NEC upgrades. | NEC 24.1 |
