Grids, Exports and Background Tasks

Andrew Dotto Updated by Andrew Dotto

Grids

Several key improvements have been made to the grids in DRS 6.1 that were a direct result of investigations, experiments and development efforts with DRS 7. These have all been made the default DRS 7 experience, speeding up your data searching and retrieval.

For large data searches, grids will now load asyncronously, improving individual and global performance. Users requesting a dataset large enough to result in a short retrieval delay will now be presented with an option to cancel out of the data grid operation.

This allows users to redefine their search and improve their response, if needed.

Exports

Data grid exports also now run asynchronously which will significantly improve user experience and overall product performance.

All data grid exports can now be run as Background Tasks, allowing you to get on with your core tasks while it completes.

When running in the Background, task progress will be shown under your Organisation Selector. Completion will be indicated by a progress bar, which can be selected to review the outcomes.

Background Tasks

Background Tasks have been significantly expanded from V6. Now, all long running tasks can be set as a Background Task, to allow you to continue with your core tasks while these actions complete.

When running in the Background, task progress will be shown under your Organisation Selector. Completion will be indicated by a completed progress bar.

All Background Tasks can be managed, and terminated, through the Configuration Console.
