Contract Business Data
Updated
by Mike Nolan
Purpose
Contracts provide a means of categorising Orders and/or Customers, enabling further control over the allocation of jobs to workers. The Contract value for both Orders and Customers is provided to DRS from your Works Management system as part of the integration.
If DRS is using a multi-agency/kernel-based setup it will also control the allocation of work to each agency and kernel.
Contracts which are configured within either Customer or Order Business data also need to be configured within CONTRACT RENAME.
Types of contracts
The Contract value is integrated into DRS from your works management system. There are many reasons why we might use separate Contract values, such as;
Geographical – A geographical contract is where two parts of the organisation share the same DRS Application. One part operates in the north and one in the south for example. This however is more commonly controlled by sectors.
Customers – A customer-based contract is where the organisation defines the type of customer that they are. For example – Homes, Communal Areas, Garages, Retirement Homes, Sheltered Housing etc.
Business / Work Types – The business may be split into different areas such as responsive repairs, voids, gas & electrical servicing.
Configuration
Contracts exist as both Customer and Order object attributes. Either can be used to control how jobs are allocated to workers.
If there is no requirement to split out various contracts to the Workers then you will only need to do the following:
- Add the Customer contract business data
- Add the Order contract business data
- Add the contract value to Contract Rename
Customer Contracts
A Customer can be assigned to one Contract only; however, a Worker can be assigned to multiple Customer Contracts and could therefore work across a selection of them.
To add these Contracts, you must add them in firstly in the Customer Business Data:
DRS > Configuration > Business Data > Customer > Contract

Order Contracts
An Order can be assigned to one contract only; however, a Worker can be assigned to multiple contracts and could therefore work across a selection of them.
To add these Contracts, you must add them in firstly in the Order Business Data:
DRS > Configuration > Business Data > Order > Contract
